England and Manchester United's Phil Jones picks up ankle injury in FA Cup win
Phil Jones suffered an injury setback on Monday night, as he was forced off in the first half of Manchester United's FA Cup tie with Reading.
The 20-year-old midfielder limped off with an ankle injury following a challenge with Royals winger Jobi McAnuff just before the break.
And the England man left Old Trafford on crutches to over-shadow
United's 2-1 win and progression to the quarter final of the competition.
Speaking about the injury, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "We'll have to assess it in the morning.
"It's an ankle injury obviously, so I'd imagine he'll not be ready for Saturday anyway.
"But we'll see what he's like after that."
Jones was in impressive form last week,
helping United to stifle Real Madrid dangerman Critiano Ronaldo in the Champions League game at the Bernebeu last Wednesday.
Prior to that, the former Blackburn Rovers star was forced to pull out of the
England Under-21 squad for their match with Sweden earlier this month.
