A trio of England stars are on target as Liverpool demolish Norwich

Liverpool’s England contingent were in red-hot form at Anfield on Saturday as the Reds demolished Norwich City 5-0.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have now scored 12 goals without reply in their last three home league games.

The Liverpool boss reserved special praise for the Three Lions trio of Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard, who each found the back of the net during the rout.

"Jordan Henderson is developing and learning all the time. He works his socks off every single game,” he said.

"(Daniel Sturridge's goal) was the type of goal he was brought in for. He is terrific outside the box but he is a real killer in it.

"It's three goals in three games for him and I think there will be many to come."

Rodgers added: "We have played well for most of the season but Daniel coming in adds that extra threat. He has pace and power and he has got good touch and good skills.

“I thought Steven Gerrard today was unbelievable – his passing, his intensity and his work-rate. But today was very much a team performance and they played very well.”

Henderson, the former Sunderland man, was handed a starting berth in place of Joe Allen and he responded with an industrious performance which included Liverpool’s opening goal.

The 22-year-old curled a sublime first-time half volley from the edge of the box in the 26th minute, before Uruguay international Luis Suarez doubled the Reds’ advantage with a neat finish ten minutes later.

Recent signing Sturridge became the first Liverpool player in 39 years to score in each of his first three outings for the club when he diverted Stewart Downing’s cross beyond Mark Bunn.

Three Lions skipper Gerrard drilled a trademark long-range drive into the bottom corner for 4-0.

Norwich’s misery was completed 16 minutes from time when a shot from substitute Raheem Sterling was helped into the net by Ryan Bennett.

Rodgers also handed starts to Three Lions’ full-back Glen Johnson and Under-21 defender Andre Wisdom.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini called upon the services of four England stars as his side kept up the heat on leaders Manchester United with a 2-0 win against Fulham.

Joe Hart, James Milner and Gareth Barry, as well as substitute Joleon Lescott, all featured as Spain star David Silva grabbed a brace to steal the show at the Etihad Stadium.

Some typically-industrious play from Milner early on enabled Edin Dzeko to take a shot at goal, and Silva followed up to break the deadlock after Mark Schwarzer parried the Bosnian’s effort.

The playmaker added another in the second period to secure all three points.

Meanwhile, England winger Adam Johnson enjoyed a more pleasing afternoon as he helped Sunderland come from behind to defeat Wigan 3-2 at the DW Stadium.

The tricky winger teed up Steven Fletcher for Sunderland’s third strike, which proved to be the game’s deciding goal.
