Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge both net penalties as Liverpool romp past Swansea
Daniel Sturridge and
Steven Gerrard were both on target to help Liverpool cruise to a 5-0 win over Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday.
The England pair each netted penalties in the weekend's only Premier League fixture as the Reds bounced back from two recent defeats in style.
Gerrard put Liverpool in front with 34 minutes played to ease the pain of successive 2-0 defeats to West Bromwich Albion and Zenit St Petersburg.
Coutinho, Jose Enrique and Luis Suarez made it 4-0 in the second half before Sturridge wrapped up the win in his first appearance for a fortnight following injury.
The goal took the 23-year-old's tally to five goals in seven outings since joining the Merseyside outfit from Chelsea last month.
Sturridge's former side were in
FA Cup action on Sunday and had their usual array of England stars on show for their
4-0 Fourth Round replay win over Brentford.
Frank Lampard scored a trademark goal with a late run into the box to become the club’s highest scoring FA Cup player.
Manchester City’s also triumphed
4-0 in The FA Cup with victory over Leeds United.
James Milner put in a typical all-action display, against his former club, and
Jack Rodwell played the final 30 minutes as a substitute.
