The Three Lions captain was voted England Player of the Year in 2007
With just eleven days left to vote for your England Player of the Year, we look back on Steven Gerrard’s award-winning 2007.
Missing just the friendly with Germany at Wembley, Gerrard was involved in every competitive game during those 12 months and he donned the captain's armband five times.
Scoring twice, with both goals coming away to Andorra, Gerrard took his caps haul to 63 and when the poll opened he was the supporters' choice.
Gerrard said at the time: "It's a fantastic honour, coming from the fans makes it very special to me - I'm really proud.
"The fans pay their money and come and watch us play around the world, so to get their support is great.”
Gerrard topped the poll on TheFA.com, collecting 22 per cent of the votes, with Manchester City defender Micah Richards his closest rival.
The Liverpool skipper began 2007 as captain of his country with Spain the opponents at Old Trafford and played in eleven games for the Three Lions.
