Aston Villa striker Darren Bent grabs an equaliser against West Brom
England striker
Darren Bent made a dramatic impact off the bench, grabbing his 150th career league goal to earn Aston Villa a point against local rivals West Bromwich Albion.
At one-nil down at Villa Park, and with 22 minutes remaining, Villa boss Paul Lambert brought on Bent.
The 28-year-old, who's scored four times in 13 England appearances, swept the ball home within 12 minutes of his introduction to cancel out Shane Long’s 51st minute opener.
Pleased by his substitute’s intervention, the Villa boss said: “Everybody knows he’s a proven goalscorer.”
Lambert also handed a first Premier League start to England Under-21s defender
Joe Bennett, a summer signing from Middlesbrough.
Tickets for England's next game, their 2014 World Cup Qualifier against San Marino at Wembley, are still on sale. Click here for details.
