Roy Hodgson statement

England Manager Roy Hodgson said: "I'd like to thank John Terry for his commitment to the England team since I became Manager.

"I am of course disappointed to lose a player of John's international experience and exceptional ability.

"I have enjoyed a good relationship with John during my time as England Manager and I reluctantly accept his decision. I can also confirm that he had the courtesy to call me prior to announcing his retirement from the England team.

"I'd like to wish John well for the future with Chelsea."

What Do You Think?

  • Disgusted at John Terry's treatment. Will similar charges be brought against Anton Ferdinand (for his alleged abusive comments to Terry in that match) and Rio Ferdinand (for his Twitter insult to Ashley Cole) ? Terry's sentence will be more acceptable if these FA Laws are applied equally across all teams/players/races and creeds.By BLUE2 (7 months ago)
  • Mr Hodgson, when you consider your defence options, here is hoping there will be the possibility that JT might return to the squad, if the outcome of the hearing permits and you and he wish this to happen, but otherwise please look forwards not backwards, for sake of the team now and in the future.By footballfan (7 months ago)
  • why in a court of law everything is open to the public but the disciplinary proceedings re John Terry is not transparent. No one knows who is on the disciplinary panel, or if there are any witnesses involved for either side. No wonder everyone thinks this is another witch hunt & cover up. Interesting to see ALL the Wolves players come up to JT and shake his hand after the match last night By JT the only England captain (7 months ago)
  • It seems the Chelsea guard are standing up for their man. Regardless of the issues involved here, Terry has undoubtedly been a great player for England over the years, but we just have to accept his decision and move on. No shortage of young, quality central defenders. The man Cahill next to him at Chelsea for instance.By CommonSense (7 months ago)
  • Sad to see him go, great captain and leader but the right choice as the FA witch hunt against him will just continue to go on By chelseababe352 (7 months ago)
