West Ham winger Matt Jarvis wants to add to his one England cap

Matt Jarvis is eyeing up a recall to the England squad, after finding a rich vein of form for West Ham United this season.

The 26-year-old picked up his only cap for the Three Lions in a game with Ghana at Wembley in 2011, after his performances for previous club Wolves had impressed then Manager Fabio Capello.

But following Wolves' relegation struggle last season, it took a move to the Boleyn Ground in the summer to revitalise his form and he's now enjoying a consistent run of games under Sam Allardyce and is hoping to play his way back into international contention.

He said: "Obviously, I just need to keep playing well for West Ham and see where that takes me. If I keep doing well then you never know.

"I got one cap against Ghana so I'm always hungry to get more and I'll be working extremely hard to give myself the best opportunity."

England Manager Roy Hodgson was at West Ham's 0-0 draw with champions Manchester City on Saturday, where Jarvis' display caught the eye and the former Gillingham player backs himself to keep his high standards going.

"You've just got to be strong as a person and make sure that you're working extremely hard day in, day out," he added.

"And show that you've still got the desire to go and show everyone what you can do and get yourself back in the squad."
