Roy Hodgson speaks about his team selection for Friday

Roy Hodgson admits he is pleased to have a large squad to select from, as the Three Lions prepare to take on San Marino and Poland.

The England Manager has plenty of choices to make before Friday's clash with San Marino at Wembley and with competition for places fierce within the group, knows he has some hard decisions to make.

Speaking at the official opening of St. George's Park: "The great thing is that we have a lot of players competing for places who have all done well when they've been given a chance of playing for the England team.

"Even though you could argue that the game with San Marino looks easier on paper than the one with Poland, if I leave players out of that game, they're going to say to me that they want to play."

And Hodgson admits that any team he picks on Friday should be more than capable of getting a result before the squad head to Poland on Monday.

"I haven't selected a team for Friday yet, but I have ideas in my mind. I'm also aware that I've got 26 players, even though one or two are recovering from injures and one has gone down sick today.

"So it might be 22 or 23 now, but that's more than enough to play a football match and I know that whatever decisions I take, there are going to be some disappointed people when they hear they're not playing.

"Albeit, they might accept my argument that I need a fresh team to play Poland, which is the more tricky of the two matches we play.

"Any team I have from this 23 here should be capable of getting a result against San Marino and that's no disrespect to San Marino, but we accept that we are the sky-high favourites to win the game."
