Roy Hodgson believes The FA's 150th year could be a great one for England

Roy Hodgson believes The FA’s 150th year could be a great one for England, with plenty of football to look forward to.

The landmark birthday starts with Brazil visiting Wembley in February to kick-off the celebrations, before Hodgson’s squad make the return-trip to Rio for a second match in the summer.

And with the Under-21s, U20s and Women’s squads all partaking in Finals during the summer of 2013, the England Manager admitted it’s an exciting time ahead.

Speaking during this week’s trip to Brazil for the Soccerex Global Convention, Hodgson told FATV: "It's The FA's 150th anniversary year and there's no better way than to start that one than by playing Brazil at Wembley.

“And then of course, in the summer we have our match here in Rio.

"We have the Under-21s playing in the final tournament (Euros) in Israel and the U20s playing in a final tournament (World Cup) in Turkey.

"So it's going to be a fantastic summer for international football, not least of all because it's our 150th anniversary and we want that to be a very good year.”

Tickets for the game with Brazil at Wembley on 6 February 2013 will go on sale on 7 December.
