The 31-year-old striker, who was capped by England in 2011, has been out of action since November with a hip injury which was initially set to keep him out until March.
But the former Fulham, West Ham and Brighton man is making good progress in his recovery and could be back ahead of schedule.
He said: "I'd like to think I'll be back available in the next four or five weeks.
"I had an operation three weeks ago and am now working on getting fit. My fingers are crossed for a smooth recovery."
Zamora featured for the Three Lions against Sweden in November 2011 after his goalscoring form with Fulham caught then manager Fabio Capello's eye.
He had previously picked up five caps for England Under-21s between 2002 and 2003.
