Roy Hodgson's men climb to third in FIFA rankings
England have reached an all-time high of third in the FIFA world rankings.
The reigning World and European Champions, Spain, still top the ranking table, which takes into account a nation’s results over the last four years, with Germany in second place. Uruguay and Portugal complete the top five.
England have won eight of the 12 matches played in the last year, losing only once in normal time, to Holland in February.
The Three Lions qualified unbeaten for Euro 2012 where they reached the quarter finals, only to lose on penalties to eventual runners-up Italy.
England’s next match sees them face the Italians again, in Berne on Wednesday 15 August, for which Roy Hodgson will name his squad on Friday 10 August.
