Scott Parker became a key member of the England team in 2011.
A man of the match performance against Spain in November emphasised his new role in Fabio Capello’s successful side during the year. A standing ovation from the Wembley crowd as he left the pitch after 85 minutes acted as an appreciation of his outstanding year.
Having transferred from West Ham to Tottenham in the summer, the 31-year-old has convinced Capello that his ability to tackle, distribute and control the game makes him a shoo-in for selection.
The Manager described Parker as “simply incredible” following his display against the world champions. He represented the Three Lions seven times throughout the year to more than double his previous caps.
It appears he wants to make up for lost time.
