2010 was the breakthrough year for the lively wingman, who started the year playing Championship football with Middlesbrough before making the move to the City Of Manchester Stadium in January.

It was with the Sky Blues where Johnson began to catch Fabio Capello’s eye and a good run of form in the Premier League in the second half of the season saw the former Under-21 and U19 international touted for a call-up as the World Cup approached.

He made his Senior bow in the Wembley game with Mexico in May before travelling with the squad to their pre-World Cup training camp in Austria.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t selected in the final squad that travelled to South Africa but has since become a regular in the squad and netted his first goal for the Seniors in the European Championship Qualifier against Bulgaria at Wembley.

He followed that up with another strike in the impressive win in Switzerland and will now be hoping to nail down a regular spot in 2011.
