The former Wolves and Everton man has had to show his patience in 2010 as he watched the central defensive partnership of Rio Ferdinand and John Terry go from strength to strength in the first half of the year.

However, since the start of the new season, Lescott has had his opportunity to stake a claim in Fabio Capello's team due to injuries and he put in arguably his best performance in an England shirt when he joined his former Everton team-mate Phil Jagielka in the centre of defence to provide the base for an impressive win in Switzerland in the Euro qualifier.

He was in the team again when the Three Lions played Montenegro and France at Wembley and will be hoping that he can keep his place moving into 2011.
