Team chef Tim De'Ath and Heston Blumenthal speak about diet.

With England’s World Cup preparations now getting into full swing, it’s easily forgotten how important it is to keep the players correctly fuelled and that is a task which falls at the hands of team chef Tim De’Ath.

In charge of all the squad’s dietary requirements throughout the competition, Tim spoke to FATV about his side of the operation and how it works as well as revealed what he feels is the best way to feed the players.

"A healthy, balanced diet, mixing carbs, proteins and vitamins is what we're aiming for,” he said.

"The nutritionist will sit down with Fabio after I've worked out the menus and he will then say yes or no to them.

"There aren't any fussy eaters on the team, because it's such a balanced diet and there's ample choices.

"They're big eaters, as they're like racehorses and they need to be fed the right food.”

Accompanied by second chef Lee Maycock, Tim is responsible for catering for everyone involved in England’s World Cup campaign and that in itself is a lot of work.

"We're catering for around 71 people a day at the base camp here,” he explained.

"That's breakfast lunch, afternoon snack, evening meal and a late snack as well.

"And then two days before a game, wherever that may be, I'll travel ahead of the team to set up the next hotel.”

There is also a new interview with celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal who tells FATV's Tim Lovejoy about the science that exists around sporting diets nowadays
