The Black Spider proves deadly for opponents.
Who’d be a goalkeeper? Well anyone, if you were as good as Russia’s Lev Yashin.
The Black Spider, as he was known, played
75 times for his country and is widely recognised as the best stopper in the history of the game, having revolutionised the art of goalkeeping.
His athleticism, reflexes and overall presence contributed to him becoming the only goalkeeper to be awarded the Ballon d’Or (1963) as well as having the award for best goalkeeper at the World Cup being named in his honour.
