  • Sol Campbell, England, World Cup

Could Sol Campbell see action for the Three Lions again?

In collecting his 73 caps, England’s Sol Campbell has participated in three World Cups, played 10 games and scored one goal.

The imposing centre back was at the peak of his powers in 1998 and 2002, and was selected in the FIFA All Star XI in the latter tournament. However, it was his disallowed goal against Argentina in the Round of 16 at France ’98 that most England fans will recall and will dispute as a perfectly legitimate goal to this day.

Now aged 35, Campbell re-signed for Arsenal in January and has proven he can still perform at the highest level, begging the question, could he make a late bid for the plane to South Africa and a fourth World Cup?
