  • England, World Cup 1966

The year the World Cup came home.

“It’s coming home, it’s coming home...” Football truly did come home in 1966 as the World Cup was held in England for the first (and so far only) time.

The country that gave the game to the world was finally able to host the sport’s greatest tournament and boy did we make the most of it.

Not only was the event a resounding success but the Three Lions also romped to victory, lifting the Jules Rimet trophy in front of 93,000 fans at Wembley Stadium after beating the Germans 4-2 in the Final.

But being English we don’t like to talk about it...much.

What Do You Think?
