The Black Pearl's brief World Cup career still manages to shine.
Sadly, Eusebio only managed to play in one World Cup, the 1966 edition in England, but he certainly made the most of it.
Recognised as one of the great goalscorers of all-time, Eusebio banged in
41 goals in 64 games for Portugal and it was during their ’66 campaign that the Black Panther or Black Pearl (depending on your standpoint), showed the world what he was capable of.
Nine goals in six games saw him pick up the Golden Shoe Award and leave an indelible mark on the tournament’s history.
