  • Fabio meets '66 heroes

England Manager presented with shirt at special 1966 lunch.

Fabio Capello met up with members of the 1966 England Squad in  central London yesterday for a special presentation ahead of next month’s World Cup in South Africa.

The England Manager was given a signed England shirt from the boys of ’66 plus a replica of the ball that Sir Geoff Hurst scored a hat-trick with on that golden summer’s day almost 44 years ago.

And the surprises didn’t stop there, with Fabio getting a chance to hold the actual ball from the 1966 World Cup Final against West Germany, courtesy of the National Football Museum.

Fabio, along with Sir Trevor Brooking, spent over 40 minutes chatting with the likes of Sir Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks before the 1966 Squad were inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame later that afternoon.

FATV were on hand to film the meeting and spoke with a few of England's World Cup heroes. Click here to watch the video.

What Do You Think?

  • It is good to see Capello meeting the '66 heroes! I really wish that at the end of this year's South Africa World Cup tournament Capello himself will be a sung hero of England's World Cup winning team!
