Frank Lampard says England are fighting hard to make Wembley a fortress.

Frank Lampard has urged England to make Wembley Stadium into a fortress ahead of their World Cup qualifying clash with Ukraine on Wednesday night.

The Chelsea man was on the scoresheet in England's 4-0 weekend win over Slovakia and has now set his sights on firing Fabio Capello's men to a fifth consecutive victory in Group Six.

Ukraine have yet to lose a qualifier and can move to within two points of the Three Lions with a victory, while they also boast the advantage of having a game in hand.

However, Lampard believes England are in a rich vein of form and says Capello's side must make sure they maintain their current hot-streak at the Home of Football by taking another giant step towards South Africa in 2010.

"We've been playing pretty well at Wembley in recent games and it's important to make it into a fortress," said Lampard.

"We need to make it difficult for teams to come here. We've worked very hard to qualify for the World Cup.

"It's nice to see us going well, scoring goals and we need to keep going in that direction.

"Ukraine will be stronger than Slovakia and will be determined to get the points. There will be more of an edge from them as it is a competitive fixture.

"But a win will put us in a strong position in terms of the table and psychologically."
