Young England hero, Wayne Rooney, is to be given an extended summer break, his club boss David Moyes has revealed. Meanwhile, a fall could cost Richard Wright his pre-season..
The 17 year-old made a stunning impact for both Everton and England last season but he now he'll take a well-deserved rest.
Rooney is currently on holiday and Everton have given him an extra week's rest before pre-season.
Moyes said of his young protege: "It's been a really long season for him and we now need to look after him and make sure he gets the opportunity to have a proper rest and recharge his batteries.
"We won't be asking him to report back for pre-season training for a full month. That gives him a week longer than the other lads who were not involved with international matches after the end of the season.
"It's something that we will be doing for all the players who were involved in international games."
Meanwhile, Everton's England 'keeper Richard Wright looks set to miss the start of the new season after seriously damaging his shoulder when he fell out of a loft.
It has been diagnosed that the former Arsenal stopper has suffered a separation of the right shoulder joint.
Everton phsyio Mike Rathbone said: "Richard has seen a shoulder specialist in Ipswich today and he was informed that although the injury doesn't need surgery he could well be out for between six to eight weeks.
"Unfortunately goalkeepers have to dive around and that means he will certainly miss most if not all of pre-season training."
