England skipper David Beckham was in London today for the launch of the new England home kit from Umbro and spoke of the importance that three points holds for Sven's men in Liechtenstein on Saturday and despite losing in their last outing against Australia, the national team is still the place to be.

"Playing for your country is as important, maybe more important, than club football," he said.

"It's good to come away with England. It's sort of a refreshing time for all the lads. This is a big game and all the players are prepared for it.

"I don't think players need a lot of geeing up during the week. We just enjoy being here as a team of players.

Beckham added: "We've got to win this game. We can't afford to draw any more games or have any more slip-ups.

"The important thing on Saturday is that we have got to be professional. It's a smaller ground than most of us are used to but we have got to be professional and win the game."

Rio Ferdinand, David James and Michael Owen also joined Beckham at the launch of the kit England will be wearing for the first time in Vaduz and liked what they saw.
"I'm very impressed with the new kit," said Ferdinand, "I like the design and am pleased that we now have the star on the sleeve.

"It's important that we are symbolising the World Cup win in 1966 and that it's there for everyone to see - it would be tremendous to one day be part of a team that can add another."

But the Manchester United defender is focussed on getting England back to winning ways after the friendly defeat to Australia and, before that, a draw against Macedonia in Southampton, and knows that a strong rear-guard will be vital in the games against Liechtenstein and Turkey: "We have been disappointing beforehand," he said, "but with two quick games, we can get back on track.

"We were all disappointed, frustrated, but these are two big games which can put ourselves back on track for the championships.

"Defensively we have been a bit slack, going from one of the best in the World Cup to conceding silly goals.

"We need to concentrate on that and the coaching staff have been working on it this week."

He added: "Two wins - nothing else is good enough. We play week-in, week-out under high pressure, so it is no difference for us."
