Last night saw the first showing of the new Pepsi commercial starring England captain David Beckham The premiere was in Manchester and sees Beckham star alongside fellow United players Gary Neville, Juan Sebastian Veron, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ryan Giggs as well as other players, including many of Real Madrid's galaxy of stars.
In the advert, one of the Real Madrid players takes a swig from Beckham's drink, prompting the England star to challenge them to a penalty shoot out.
Beckham's performance prompted director Tarsem Singh to believe that Becks has the makings of a career in acting. The player himself, though, is lukewarm.
"I don't know about following this up at the end of my career," Beckham told the Press Association. "I enjoy these commercials a lot more now because I am not as nervous.
"It is nice to do these kind of things, it helps take your mind of the pressures of football for a while, they are usually very memorable.
"I have worked with this director a few times now and he is an amazing director as well as being a really good bloke."
The Manchester United midfielder has been in adverts with team-mate Veron before, but for the others it represents something new.
"Secretly I think they enjoy it," he added.
With talk of United being in-line for what would be an unprecedented quadruple, Beckham was happy to talk about the Red Devils' prospects for this season.
"Things are not going too badly at the moment but we shall have to see whether we can keep it going," said Beckham.
