Mid Cheshire’s European hopes faded slightly today as they lost at the hands of the Republic of Ireland in Bosnia.

Following a 2-1 win over the Intermediary Round group hosts on Monday, Nick Armitage's side faced an Irish team who were also triumphant in their opening match.

However, the Mid Cheshire League found themselves 2-0 down at half time but fought back with two Kevin Towey strikes.

From then, It looked as if England's representatives in the Regions' Cup were going to go on and win the match before two defensive slips from the usually solid defence cost them late on.

All is not lost, however, as Bosnia beat San Marino 2-1. Qualification for the next round will be decided at the final games on Friday when England will play San Marino and the Republic of Ireland take on the Bosnians.
