The Mid Cheshire League’s Chris Gahgan, Kevin Towey, Neil Boardman and Lee Pennington (pictured) were the scorers in England’s 4-1 victory over Slovenia.

Following on from their success in the Preliminary Round matches in Slovenia in September, the team travel to Bosnia in confident mood. To qualify for the Intermediary Round Group 3 the team came out on top of their Central/West Preliminary Round group after comfortable wins over Slovenia and Malta, together with a fiercely contested goal- less draw with Northern Ireland.

Team Manager, Nick Armitage, has managed to keep his Barnton FC players' feet firmly on the ground, as they have juggled the need to maintain their challenge for the Mid Cheshire League title with thoughts of a second European trip.

The team begin the competition on Monday afternoon with a match against the hosts Bosnia-Herzegovina.

"This is followed with matches against the Republic of Ireland in Ugljevik on Wednesday and a return to Ugljevik next Friday to take on San Marino. The prize for the Group 3 winners is a place in the Final Tournament which will be staged in June 2005.

FA Leagues Manager, Mike Appleby, is confident of another good performance. He said: "The lads performed exceptionally well in Slovenia and there is no reason why they will not repeat this in Bosnia.

"There is little doubt that being represented by one club has been of benefit in the competition to date. The players are used to playing together and this really shone through in their previous games."

Manager Armitage has been forced to make two changes for next week’s trip following an injury to second-choice goalkeeper David Smith and the withdrawal for personal reasons of Aidan Brodigan. Craig Clare and Ian Whitfield are drafted into the squad.

Mid Cheshire squad: Richard Mottram, Craig Clare, Maciek Starczewski, Stuart Fraser, Neil Boardman, Stephen Davies, Craig Robinson, Daniel Paget, Jerry Coll, Lee Pennington, Ian Whitfield, Chris Gahgan, Neil Larkin, David Murray, Neil Critchley, Kevin Towey, Justin Farrelly and Philip Jones.
