Fabian Delph is out of the England Under-21 squad ahead of their UEFA European Championship qualifier with Macedonia at Coventry's Ricoh Arena on Friday.

The Aston Villa midfielder was suffering a slight hamstring problem and has returned to his club as a precaution.

Earlier this week, Theo Walcott was called into the squad after Lee Cattermole also pulled out through injury.

Arsenal forward Walcott, who scored in the Gunners' 6-2 victory over Blackburn on Sunday in what was his first appearance of the season, replaced the Sunderland midfielder who didn't meet up due to an ongoing heel problem.

Walcott was part of the Under-21 squad at the summer's Euro 2009 Finals in Sweden and has scored six times in 20 appearances at this level.

Under-21s Coach Stuart Pearce was pleased to call on the 20-year-old, who has also earned eight caps for the England Senior Team.

“This is the perfect opportunity for the Under-21s to support the Senior Team," he said.

“I spoke with Arsene Wenger yesterday and we both agreed it would be right for Theo to come and join the squad.”

Meanwhile, Sam Hutchinson, who received his first Under-21s call up for this match, was injured in Chelsea's reserve defeat to Arsenal on Monday night and will not join up with the squad.
