'Thommo' joined The FA in 1997 and has played a key role with England's development teams ever since, particularly the Under-21 side.
A former goalkeeper himself, who played more than 500 games in the Football League for the likes of Bristol Rovers, Newcastle United and Birmingham City, Thomas also won a cap for Wales in a European Championship qualifier against Finland.
He was already working towards becoming a coach during his playing days by collecting the various qualifications and supplemented this by coaching young goalkeepers in the Midlands.
His first role with The FA came in 1996 when he coached the England U16 stoppers before joining full-time the following year and becoming part of the structure for coaching goalkeeper coaches.
He has since been the goalkeeping coach for England Under-21s, over-seeing the international development of players such as Joe Hart, Jack Butland, Paul Robinson and Scott Carson.
