Biography

Now in his second spell with The FA, Kenny first joined the organisation as Technical Director of the National School in Lilleshall in 1998, after managerial earlier stints at Wigan Athletic and Grimsby Town.

He then spent two years as Director of Football at the Thomas Telford School before returning to The FA to take charge of the England U16 team in 2004.

The 1982 European Cup winner combines his role as Head Coach of the U16s with managing The FA’s Talent Identification network and he also assists John Peacock with the England U17 squad.

Swain enjoyed a well decorated playing career spanned almost 20 years, culminating in over 600 appearances for six different clubs such as Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, with his finest moment coming in Rotterdam when Aston Villa defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 in the European Cup final.
