Former Nottingham Forest winger Wigley is Stuart Pearce's number two in the Under-21s set-up.
At the end of his playing career he moved into coaching as manager of Aldershot Town where he stayed for three years before heading back to the City Ground to work in the Academy.
A spell at the Southampton Academy was also followed in 2004 by the roles of both caretaker and full-time manager after the departures of Gordon Strachan and then Paul Sturrock.
After leaving St Mary's Wigley teamed up with Pearce at Manchester City before the pair moved into the England Under-21s set-up in 2007.
He has worked alongside Pearce in the 2007, 2009 and 2011 European Championship campaigns, but was also part of David Platt's coaching team for the 2002 tournament in Switzerland.
Away from the national team he is also assistant manager at Bristol City.
