Biography

A strong and technically proficient defender, who is as comfortable with the ball at his feet as he is when making sure the opposition are kept at bay with his tackling and aerial prowess.

The big Yorkshireman was initially with Bradford City as a youngster, but his sparkling form for the junior teams there saw him attract the attention of Liverpool, who swiftly signed him when he was just 14.

He has since impressed all at Anfield with his performances for their Academy and also for England at both U16 and U17 level.

His finest moment to date undoubtedly came in May 2010 though, when he was the player who scored England U17s' equalising goal against Spain in the Final of the European Championship, setting them on the way to victory.

Wisdom's form throughout that competition made him a key player for John Peacock's side and it was no real surprise that he made the step-up to the U19s a few months later, debuting against Slovakia at Crewe in September 2010.

That game also saw him perform admirably in a midfield role, as opposed to the central defensive berth he had previously excelled at.
