Predominantly a centre back, Matthew is strong in the air and he distributes the ball well from the back.
The Liverpool defender played four times for the U16s last season, with all of those appearances coming in the Montaigu Tournament in France.
He then collected more caps for the U17s, where he has been a squad regular throughout the 2010-11 season.
