Biography

Current club: Everton

Rodwell is a 6’2” midfielder who substituted for Tim Cahill to make his Premier League debut for Everton just two days short of his 17th birthday. He had already become the Toffees’ youngest ever player in a European competition.

He established himself as a first-teamer in 2008-09, featuring in 19 Premier League games.

Rodwell captained England’s U16s in the Victory Shield in 2006 and made six appearances for the U19s before winning his first Under-21 cap as a substitute for Martin Cranie in a friendly against France at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on 31 March 2009.

He played in four games at the European Finals in Sweden, scoring in the 1-1 draw with Germany in ‘Group B’. He established his place in the Under-21 team with four starts in the 2009-10 season.
