Biography

After earning seven caps for the England U19 team, playing in the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup in 2008 and turning out twice for Brent Hills’ U23 side, Claire Rafferty made her senior team debut against Austria in March 2010.

She came off the bench to replace Rachel Unitt and gained three minutes’ of valuable World Cup qualifying experience during England’s 3-0 victory.

The energetic, tough-tackling left-back earned her second senior cap away to Malta two months later, starting in England’s 6-0 win. She has been involved in numerous senior squads since and she even scored the winner for the U23 team against Germany in September 2010.

Claire made her World Cup Finals debut as an 81st-minute substitute against France in the quarter final.
