The Chelsea left-back had been capped by England previously at both U16 and U17 level, and he was called up by the U20s for the first time in February 2011 for the game with France at Shrewsbury Town.
Unfortunately he was withdrawn from that game with a knock picked up whilst out on loan with Scunthorpe United, but he remained in Brian Eastick's thoughts and was selected in the 21-man squad for the FIFA U20 World Cup, held in Colombia in the summer of 2011.
Born in Bradford, Ben started his career in the academy at Leeds United but was quickly snapped up by Chelsea in 2007 after impressing for both club and country.
