1992 European champions Denmark booked their place at the finals thanks to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Sarajevo, a result that agonisingly left fourth-placed Bosnia-Herzegovina just a point adrift of the play-offs.

On the final day of qualifying, Everton midfielder Thomas Gravesen, who was sent off in the last minute, set up Martin Jørgensen for the opening goal after 12 minutes, but Elvir Bolic heeded home his 17th international goal to level matters up just before the break.

However the Danes held on for the point they needed, while their Scandinavian neighbours Norway also have a chance of joining them in the Algarve after finishing as group runners-up following a 1-0 win in Oslo over bottom-of-the-table Luxembourg.

Tore Andre Flo's first-half goal consequently condemning Romania to a football-free summer next year.
