Tottenham's next generation of stars get the chance to shine again on Wednesday when they face Stevenage in The FA Youth Cup Third Round and Academy Manager John McDermott has urged his side to grab the opportunity with both hands.

The club's youngsters have already been given a taste of the big time this season, like Harry Kane (pictured), while some of this year's Youth Cup contingent who will be involved against Stevenage, have already travelled with Harry Redknapp on Spurs' adventures in the UEFA Europa League.

Now Spurs' new crop of players have their chance to show Redknapp and McDermott what they can do and the latter told TheFA.com: "It is up to them to seize the initiative and show what they can do in front of senior eyes.

"Hopefully then they can take their opportunity and then get a chance to train [with the first team] and then a chance to feature in the team.

"All the boys are constantly aware of the reputation they have to keep up."

Some players may have rubbed shoulders with Spurs' senior stars already this season but McDermott has told them Stevenage away will be an entirely different experience.

McDermott said: "This is the Third Round of The FA Youth Cup and we've got to get through the night.

"For some of the boys this will be their first game under floodlights and in a proper stadium. In some ways, the later rounds are better for them because they've already come through that experience.

"Nobody can freeze on the night, we have to make sure."

It is a measure of the concentration and focus Spurs have that McDermott was unaware of who his team will face in the Fourth Round if they get by Stevenage.

Cardiff await but McDermott added: "To tell the truth I didn't know we had Cardiff until you told me. We are concentrating on Stevenage and only them.

"They are a fantastic side and we used to play there ourselves. Stevenage are on the up and we have to respect and not underestimate them."
