Eastleigh's youth team are facing a stern start to their season with a visit from neighbours Bournemouth in The FA Youth Cup's First Qualifying Round on Wednesday.

Eastleigh are yet to play a competitive game this season but manager Danny Smith hopes that a sense of occasional will over ride any feelings of rustiness.

"It's our first game of the season so playing wise we haven't done a lot but the boys are fit and in good condition so we are looking forward to it," he said.

"The boys are excited because it's The FA Cup and they will be playing under floodlights on a pitch that is in great condition so the lads are very excited about it."

The two sides from the south coast of England will be familiar to each other as Eastleigh have a number of former Bournemouth players among their ranks.

"We know a bit about Bournemouth and we know that they will be a well organised side with good quality," added Simpson.

One player Simpson will be looking to for goals is Sam House, who has been attracting the attention of a certain Championship club.

"Sam could well get on the scoresheet for us, he recently had a trial for Doncaster Rovers and is a real talent," revealed Simpson.

Bournemouth manager Dave Martin has been impressed with the effort shown by his side in pre-season and he hopes they will able to take that form into Wednesday's game.

"We have looked really good in training so I'm confident in the lads putting on a good show. I will be looking to my strike partnership of Rhys Jones and Ellis Jones to get the goals to see us through," said Martin.
