Chelsea have reached the Semi-Finals of The FA Youth Cup after beating Watford 4-0 to end the Hornets' hopes of creating a second upset in a row.

Watford came into the tie fresh from a morale-boosting win over Liverpool at Anfield in the previous round. But Aliu ‘Kaby’ Djalo, Marko Mitrovic, Jeffrey Bruma and Josh McEachran all scored for Chelsea as they reached the last four for the second time in three years.

The Blues who beat Portsmouth in the previous round, went ahead after 29 minutes when Kaby finished smartly with his left foot and Dermot Drummy’s side always looked in control. Marco Mitrovic doubled the lead, with his fourth of their Cup campaign, scored from the penalty spot after being upended by Eddie Oshodi just before half-time.

Chelsea’s third goal all but sealed the tie after 60 minutes, this time Billy Clifford setting up Bruma for a cool finish and they added a fourth from a McEachran volley.

As for Watford, they started the match strongly and almost went ahead through Gavin Massey. But in the end they had to accept defeat as Chelsea took control.

The Blues will now face either Everton or Blackburn over two legs in the Semi-Final, with the second of the games due to be staged at Stamford Bridge.
