Arsenal captain Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored a last-minute stunner to seal Arsenal's place in the Semi-Final of The FA Youth Cup at the expense of local rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Emmanuel Thomas lashed home with a stunning left-footed drive from 20 yards to put the Gunners 2-1 up before substitute Rhys Murphy confirmed the win in stoppage time as they came from behind to take the spoils in the north London derby.

The hosts got off to a dream start when they took the lead after just five minutes. Andros Townsend made a great run down the left, beating Arsenal defender Kyle Bartley on the outside.

Then his low cross found Jonathan Obika, who managed to nip in ahead of Thomas Cruise and stab the ball beyond Arsenal 'keeper James Shea.

Arsenal looked to press for an equaliser straightaway and almost had the chance to level on eleven minutes, but Sanchez Watt was inches away from connecting with Gilles Sunu's low cross to the far post.

But Spurs were always threatening and the pace of Townsend almost enabled them to double their lead. He powered past Craig Eastmond on the left of the penalty area but his shot was high and wide.

And the home side should have made it 2-0 on 23 minutes. Ryan Mason's cross from the right found Obika who had drifted beyond the Arsenal defence, but he made a poor contact with his volley and fired well wide when he should have done better.

Sunu had Arsenal's best chance of the half in the 36th minute. First-team squad member Jack Wilshere played in the Frenchman with a perfect through-ball, but his effort was well saved by Oscar Jansson down low to his right.

But the visitors did not have to wait long after the break to restore parity, as Francis Coquelin's 50th- minute corner deflected off Spurs defender Adam Smith onto Kyle Bartley's back and into the net.

The goal seemed to spark Arsenal into life and Emmanuel-Thomas and Wilshere forced Jansson into decent saves before Watt fired just over on 65 minutes

And the Gunners took the lead in dramatic fashion when Emmanuel-Thomas thumped home after a swift counter attack, before Murphy's smart finish across Jansson added the gloss for Steve Bould's side.
