VIDEO: Old Trafford youngsters lift Youth Cup

Young Reds overcome Sheffield United to clinch silverware.

Manchester United win 6-3 on aggregate

Manchester United and England strike aces Ravel Morrison and Will Keane scored a brace apiece at Old Trafford on Monday evening to see off Sheffield United and help the Red youngsters lift The FA Youth Cup sponsored by E.ON for the tenth time and extend their record haul of victories in this competition.

Just a day after their senior counterparts were handed the Premier League trophy at the same venue, Old Trafford's up and coming talent earned their own moment of glory as they beat the Blades 6-3 on aggregate with what turned out to be a comfortable but slightly flattering victory.

After drawing the first leg at Bramall Lane last week, the tie was nicely poised for the decider and the Blades were well-backed with over 6000 fans crossing the Pennines to cheer on John Pemberton's side.

Their side were quickly put onto the back foot though, as Manchester United created a flurry of chances in the opening stages. They didn't make the breakthrough, and the Blades were just finding a foothold in the game when United took the lead just after the half-hour mark.

The goal came when Keane's mis-cued shot fell perfectly for Morrison, who managed to turn the ball back towards goal and give his team the advantage.

Paul McGuinness' side then doubled their lead just before the break, as Keane got his first from the penalty spot after Terry Kennedy's was judged to have handballed inside the area and it was always going to be hard work for Sheffield United after that.

They were dealt another blow shortly after the restart too as Blades defender Harry Maguire unfortunately went off on a stretcher after a clash of heads, as United continued to probe. They eventually went three goals up with 20 minutes remaning, when Morrison drilled a low shot into the corner.

Joe Ironside deservedly pulled one back for the visitors moments later when he finished off a cross from the impressive Jordan Slew, but Keane responded with another to round off the scoring and see United claim The Youth Cup for the first time since 2003.
