Everton 6-0 Barnet
First Round
Sunday 30 September 2007

Everton Ladies began their season on the same day as the Women's World Cup Final in Shanghai, the tournament that several of their stars had competed in just a week earlier, and were in impressive form with an excellent 6-0 win over Barnet.

The Blues began the game with England stars Rachel Brown, Fara Williams and Rachel Unitt on the substitutes bench. New signing Natasha Dowie made her debut up front after signing from Charlton Athletic in the summer along with Jo Potter.

The disrupted pre-season due to commitments at the Women’s World Cup in China was not a factor as the Blues romped to a convincing victory at Marine. Kelly McDougall bagged a hat-trick, Emily Westwood grabbed a brace and Rachel Unitt wrapped up proceedings with the final goal in the last few minutes of the game.

The victory could have been more emphatic if it was not for the woodwork – seven times the post was struck.

West Ham United 1-4 Everton
Second Round
Sunday 21 October 2007

Everton made it into the last eight of the Cup after beating West Ham 4-1 in a convincing display from the Merseysiders. Despite the long journey it was well worth it for the Blues as they put their name in the hat with a strong performance in the capital.

West Ham had shown they were no pushovers with a 9-0 away win over Reading Royals in the First Round, but Everton made sure of the victory with a composed display.

A brace from Fara Williams and goals from Amy Kane and Jody Handley gave Mo Marley’s side a comprehensive victory over their Southern Division counterparts. Kelly Ling grabbed a late consolation goal for the Hammers, but it was Everton's day.

Everton 3-0 Sunderland
Third Round
Sunday 4 November 2007

The Blues’ passage into the last four was secured courtesy of a 3-0 win over Sunderland. A brace from Fara Williams and strike from Michelle Evans ensured a comfortable victory over the Black Cats at Marine.

Michelle Evans scored a fine tap-in, but her strike was overshadowed by two long-distance efforts from Williams that gave the Toffees their deserved place in the last four.

The first strike was a firmly struck free-kick from outside the area, the kick had been awarded after Emily Westwood drove at the Sunderland defenders before begin tripped close to the box. Evans then met a far post cross, before another driven effort from Williams wrapped up the scoring.

Mo Marley’s side made it into their second League Cup semi-final in three years, eager to mark their hard work and progress with silverware.

Watford 1-2 Everton
Semi-Final
Sunday 16 December 2007

Toni Duggan’s winner in extra-time earned the Blues a 2-1 victory over Watford and a place in the Final.

England midfielder Jill Scott gave Everton the lead on 23 minutes after corner by left-winger Michelle Evans had been only half cleared and Scott fired home.

But Watford hit back in determined fashion and drew level when midfielder Emma Beckett forced the ball home in a 65th-minute goalmouth scramble.
Everton could have wrapped up victory four minutes into the second half of extra time but England left-back Rachel Unitt missed a penalty.

But it was left to Duggan to win the game 2-1 two minutes from the end of extra time with a great solo effort to set up the date with Arsenal.
