Whitley Bay's players will walk out at Wembley in The FA Carlsberg Vase Final after securing a 3-2 aggregate victory over Lowestoft Town.

Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Ian Chandler's side battled to a 1-1 draw in the Semi-Final Second Leg at Crown Meadow, despite playing much of the 90 minutes with ten-men.

Bay's victory looked a long way off when Darren Cockrill fired Lowestoft ahead in just the third minute, to level the tie on aggregate.

Despite a place in the showpiece final at stake, both sides showed their attacking credentials in the opening stages and Whitley drew level just ten minutes later through Leon Ryan.

But their task was made all the more difficult when striker Lee Kerr was given his marching orders for a dangerous tackle mid-way after 27 minutes.

Roared on by partisan home support, Lowestoft threw everything at the Whitley goal but were unable to find a breakthrough.

The Seahorses ten-men defended superbly throughout and could themselves have had further goals on the break in the closing stages.

Whitley will take on Glossop North End in The Final in May.
