Friday Fives - Howard Wilkinson

Former England Caretaker Manager picks dream five-a-side team.

Every Friday we will bring you a special Friday Fives feature, with a different football personality picking their dream five-a-side team made up of players they have either played with or managed in their careers.

This week we have asked former England Caretaker Manager Howard Wilkinson, the last Englishman to lead a team to the top-flight title (Leeds United in 1992), for his team, drawn from sides he has managed over the years.

After much deliberation, Wilkinson names five players he had the pleasure of coaching at Notts County, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and England.

While our Friday Fives series is a bit of fun with fans, current or ex-professionals, The FA Umbro Fives competition allows every five-a-side player in the country the chance to replicate the feats of these greats, with the overall winners being crowned the official five-a-side champions of England at Wembley Stadium.

The competition offers the best teams in the country the chance to play in the national final at the national stadium and follow in the footsteps of some football legends. The deadline to enter a team was 29 July and the first round of heats will get underway in the new season.
