Fives taking shape

The battle is on nationwide for a place at Wembley.

Qualification for the Wembley Final of this year’s FA UMBRO Fives is underway – and the quality of teams progressing is the highest in the competition’s history.

Winning teams from the Local Qualifiers go through to Regional Finals at seven venues around the country – with only the best of the best making it through to play at Wembley Stadium on 20 November.

The hottest competition could come in the North West, where Playfootball Bury host the Regional Final on Sunday 17 October. Amongst the favourites will be MCR, who qualified from the Blackpool heat and have been to Wembley before as The Union. Plungy Celtic and Barca Reserves – who won the heats at Preston and Bury respectively – are also hotly tipped.

Traditionally, the London Regional Final has been one of the most competitive. This year Bushwackers from the Eltham heat, North London from the Wembley heat and Allstarz from Heathrow are sure to be in contention.

Other teams to progress from the Local Qualifiers are Vote Gannon from Sheffield, AC Warriors from Coventry, Real Fox from Norwich and Fire At Twerton from Bristol.

Teams can still sign up to take part in this year’s FA UMBRO Fives for just £25 click here - with Local Qualifiers taking place across the country in the first three weeks of October.

And this year, teams entering the Women’s FA UMBRO Fives go straight into the Regional Finals – just one step away from Wembley. Sign up now by clicking here.
