On a packed day of small-sided football action at Wembley Stadium, MDU and Newcastle United Blues were both crowned as The FA Umbro Fives champions in the men's and women's competition respectively.

MDU become the first men's team to have lifted the Cup twice, having previously won it in its first year back in 2007 whilst this year's honour is a first for Newcastle.

They saw off opposition from London-based Hardly Athletic with a narrow 1-0 victory in the Final, with the goal coming from pretty much the last kick of the game after they previously beat fellow northern team The Poly in the Semi-Final.

MDU, who qualified for the Finals as winners of the South-East Region, were taken to extra time in the men's Final by Midlands outfit Top Draw, who actually went 2-0 up in the game before two goals from MDU took it to extra time. After that, two goals sealed a 4-2 win and victory for MDU.

The men's player of the tournament was MDU's Rob Ursell, who also plays for the England Futsal team, whilst former England Women striker Lianne Sanderson picked up the same honour in the women's competition.
