Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr took his team one step closer to Wembley at the weekend when they picked up an impressive win at Oxford United in The FA Trophy.

Burr has only been in charge at the Midlands club for just over a month after taking over from Mark Yates in January, but is now only two games away from The Final.

After progressing from the Fourth Round courtesy of a late winner at the Kassam Stadium, Burr acknowledged that his team rode their luck against the Conference Premier leaders but is now focused on the Semi-Final.

"You need that bit of luck in Cup competitions, but the teams in the Semi-Final have earned the right and we're no different,” he told TheFA.com camera after the game.

"It was always going to be tough, it's a Quarter Final so you just take what's given to you.

"A win and to get through to the Semi-Final is a great achievement for our lads.

"The prize is getting to Wembley. I've been fortunate to play there, but it will be great to take a team there as a manager.

"I’ve been close before, but hopefully I can go all the way this year.”

Harriers put in a classic away performance in the game, by soaking up pressure and hitting their hosts on the break and that was how they took the lead with Brian Smikle putting them ahead from close range after a sweeping move upfield.

Oxford levelled through Matt Green in the second half after something of a defensive mix-up, but victory was secured in the 87th minute when Smikle supplied a cross from the right for Robert Matthews to score the winner from close range.

"We defended very well and hit them on the break and we looked dangerous I thought,” he added.

"I was really pleased with the boys and we couldn't have asked for anymore.”
