FA Cup Final hero Yaya Toure admitted his dream had become a reality as he scored the only goal of the game as Manchester City beat Stoke City 1-0 at Wembley.
The Ivorian, who scored the winner in the Semi-Final victory over Manchester United, lashed home with just 16 minutes to go as his side claimed their first trophy in 35 years.
And Toure admitted it was a huge achievement by Robeto Mancini’s side.
“It is fantastic for the club,” he said. “The dream is now real. It is fantastic to win – for everyone at the club it is fantastic.
“For me it is something that we promised in pre-season. We said it would be fantastic if we could win a trophy and we did.
“It [the goal] was not easy – there were a lot of players in there, but I shot at goal and it went in."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Joe Hart believes City fully merited their FA Cup triumph: “We deserved to win this trophy as we have beaten the best,” he said.
“We beat a very good Stoke side today. The key was putting the ball in the back of the net as I didn’t think they were going to score past us today.
“We need a bit more consistency and then you never know [what City could achieve next season].”
