Sorensen gracious in defeat

Stoke 'keeper admits the better team won The Cup.

Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen graciously admitted the better side won as Manchester City claimed The FA Cup thanks to a 1-0 victory at Wembley.

Sorensen was in inspired form, keeping the Sky Blues at bay for most of the afternoon, but was beaten by Yaya Toure’s second-half strike as Stoke failed to win in their first FA Cup Final.

“I think they played the best stuff on the day,” said Sorensen. “We are disappointed we didn’t play better as we have done so in the past and lately we have played really well.

“As a team, we didn’t create any flowing play and we didn’t hold the ball up well, though we defended okay.

“The first half was a big disappointment, we never really got playing.”
