The FA Community Shield sponsored by McDonald's

Giving something back

Community Partner McDonald's give grassroots teams dream experience.

It wasn’t just Manchester United and Chelsea who were put through their paces on the Wembley pitch at this year’s FA Community Shield sponsored by McDonald’s – four lucky grassroots football clubs also had a special coaching session at Wembley in the run-up to kick-off.

The boys and girls from Bedworth Eagles Girls, Marton Hall Drive Boys, Wickersley Girls and Mayford Athletic were all rewarded for a fantastic season by their local McDonald’s franchisees with this great day out.

Not only did the children get to sample the Wembley atmosphere – they were also put through their paces by former Man United coach and McDonald’s Head of Coaching, Eric Harrison.

McDonald’s Team Parade
This year’s Community Shield also featured the first-ever McDonald’s Team Parade – a celebration of the McDonald’s Football Open Day programme that’s been a real success in 2009.

Joining in with the pre-match entertainment at Wembley were the 14 grassroots clubs who’ve worked together with their local McDonald’s franchisee to bring a unique day of football family fun to their local community.
